Nahum 1:1-14
Scene – the Israelites being ruled by Assyria – and many had turned to the Assyrian gods.Nahum – how can you follow these idols when you could follow an awesome God – Jeremiah 2:13.
I. The Lord is Jealous, (Nahum 1:2).
1. God created us to be His people – He does not like it to be second on our list of priorities.2. God is against any nation, person, or thing that keeps His people from worshiping Him or telling others about Him.3. God is opposed to any who challenge His Lordship. He is against those who want to be their own God.
II. The Lord is slow to anger, (Nahum 1:3).
Hebrew word means a bull who snorts but doesn’t attack. The good news is He is slow to anger especially to His own.He tolerates a lot more than we do, but He will punish all sin.
III. The Lord is creator and giver of everything, (Nahum 1:3-5).
IV. The Lord is Good – a refuge in tough times, (Nahum 1:7).
