Dr. Jerry Vines, Pastor Emeritus, First Baptist Church, Jacksonville, Florida, shares the following in his sermon titled “The Church’s Main Business”:
“I read an interesting article about the head coaches at the University of Georgia and Florida State—Mark Richt and Bobby Bowden.
Richt, who is a fine young Christian coach, told about how when he was on the coaching staff of Bobby Bowden, one of the players on the team died. Coach Bowden called the team and coaches together and shared with them how they could be saved. He asked, ‘If that boy had been you, would you be in heaven or hell now?’ Mark Richt said that was the day he received Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.”
