The Revival I’m Praying For

Nehemiah 8

Seeing God work in the people to complete the task had a great affect on the people.

1) Nehemiah 8:1

The people were of one heart . . . When you go through adversity and depend upon God, God uses this to bring the hearts of the people together. When God’s people have one heart, there is nothing that can stop them.

2) Nehemiah 8:1

The people had an increased hunger for the Word of God. They came with one accord to ask for the Word to be read.
Note how they listened:
a. Attentively
b. Excitedly- from daylight to noon. Six hours they listened to the Word of God. When God begins to touch people’s lives, He begins to place a desire within their hearts to devour the Word of God.
c. Reverently (Nehemiah 8:5) – The Word of God was not just an ordinary scroll to them or a book to us, it is to be held reverently.
d. Worshipfully (Nehemiah 8:6) – There was a sense of awe and worship. They had a serious walk with the Lord.
e. They listened with Conviction (Nehemiah 8:9)

3) Nehemiah 8:8 They acted on what was taught.

a. They discipled those who lacked understanding (Nehemiah 8:8)
b. They rejoiced when it was time to rejoice (Nehemiah 8:12)
c. They proclaimed this message throughout the land (Nehemiah 8:15)
